Our story begins in 1978, with Rick Bott, a lifetime resident of Monmouth County and recent graduate of the Culinary Institute of America.   Rick began his career in a small storefront on Monmouth Street in Red Bank NJ.  He was the “Chief Cook and Bottlewasher” in those early days, living above the storefront earning $ 25 per week.   Along with his brother and partner,  Andy, they began catering private parties for the wealthy of Monmouth County.     

For over 45 years, Rick along with the talented Jack McCann and Laura McCann continued designing events for 3 presidents, multiple Governors and various celebrities and sports figures. A scratch kitchen coupled with attention to detail and strong staff made Merri-Makers the caterer of choice in central and south New Jersey.

Jack McCann, a graduate of Johnson and Wales University, joined the team in 1991 and has earned the title of President and Executive Chef.  His impressive culinary experiences, paired with his commitment to exceeding client expectations, are what contribute to the success of all catered events.

Laura McCann moved from Maryland in 1996 and has been a part of the Merri-Makers team ever since.  Laura knows the details are critical and every event is unique.  As the Senior VP of Sales, Laura shares her expertise and wealth of knowledge with all of the Merri-Makers Event Planners.  Lauras events have been featured in Style Me Pretty, The Knot, NJ Weddings and Catersource.

Cynthia Bott met Rick at that storefront on Monmouth Street.  Over the past 45 years, Rick and Cindy have had the privilege of catering over 6,000 unique and custom weddings and events that have led Merri-Makers to become one of the distinguished caterers in the country. Together they run the organization, but Rick learned a long time ago that while he may be the owner of the  company, Cindy is the boss.

Merri-Makers was selected as the exclusive caterer for The Bonnet Island Estate, The Ashford Estate, and the Mallard Island Yacht Club.  Each Estate boasts picturesque views, stunning interiors with private overnight accommodations.  As the exclusive caterer we round out the experience by providing stellar service, menus designed for each individual client and unique culinary experience.  Merri-Makers serves the most discerning of clients, who’s attention to detail is surpassed only by our own.

No detail is left untouched by the hard-working Merri-Makers Team members.  Dedication, creativity, loyalty, tenacity, and care are just some of the qualities that our team possesses.  From Event Planners, Chef’s, Cooks, Event Attendants, Event Managers, Kitchen Utility, Overnight Managers, Office Personnel, each is considered a member of the family.   Without our many dedicated staff, we would not be able to put on such unforgettable events.  As a family owned and operated business, Merri-Makers Team members take part in our end of year profit sharing.
